What’s on at Felixstowe Photographic Society

18th January 2018

Results of the January ‘Open’ competition.

20th January 2018 (Saturday)

Annual Digital Image Competition organised by Cambridge Camera Club The Judge for this years competition is David Gibbins.

25th January 2018

This is a meeting of the Digital Group and will be an ‘In-Theory’ meeting covering a range of topics. We will be reviewing the change in the image sizes for digital entries in the competitions to ensure all members are aware of the details in the rules of the Society. Also covered will be a review of how and why both the laptop and digital projector are colour calibrated and how this effects the accuracy of the displayed image.  The Society has a ColorMunki Display screen calibrator which members can borrow to calibrate their own display. We will be looking at depth of field for different lenses and discovering the best aperture by testing lenses using calibration charts just to see if f22 gives a better image than f8. We will also be looking at the work of Michael Kenna who was born in north west England in 1953. At an early age he found interest in his surroundings spending time alone as he says “living in his imagination” at the park, railway station and the church.  He's one of the more important contemporary photographers as he represents a new school of landscape photography, building on the Ansel Adams tradition but with a new life.

27th January 2018 (Saturday)

Annual dinner and presentation of awards held at the Brook Hotel, Felixstowe.
